Math teachers often joke that they’re not artists while artists joke that they pursued art instead of math for good reason. This is just one example of how art and math are often kept separate from one another, believed to be worlds apart and meant for fundamentally different people. However, many mathematical concepts are incorporated into art and design, and these same concepts explain why certain layouts, patterns, and ratios are visually appealing.

PR00F is a conceptual design conference that would show that these subjects have more overlap than meets the eye. It aims to encourage both designers and mathematicians to leave their comfort zones and attempt to branch out into unfamiliar territory, potentially discovering a new interest in the process. PR00F’s goal is to challenge preconceptions, spark curiosity, and foster a renewed appreciation for the inherent harmony between art and mathematics.

BRANDING

What do we value?

PR00F values the intersection of art and mathematics and seeks to foster meaningful connections between designers and mathematicians. It believes in the power of collaboration across disciplines.

Brand Promise

It promises to be PR00F that design and mathematics are subjects everyone can learn and practice, regardless of perceived academic or artistic talent.

Brand Personality

With monospaced text, varied elements, and a primary color-based palette, PR00F is dynamic, engaging, and thought-provoking.

What makes us different?

PR00F incorporates a subject largely absent from design conferences: mathematics, and how they’re incorporated into design.

Connection: It provides a platform for meaningful interactions that bridge disciplinary boundaries.

Exploration: PR00F celebrates curiosity, experimentation, and the pursuit of knowledge.

Impact: PR00F aims to make a positive impact on individuals, empowering participants to harness the power of art, mathematics, and design.

Brand Pillars

RESEARCH

A design conference that explores the intersections between math and design.

Who are we?

Organize and host workshops, panels, and seminars where participants can engage with experts and discover the connections between art, mathematics, and design.

What do we do?

PR00F is the only design conference that puts an emphasis on mathematics in its programming.

Onlyness statement

Why does it matter?

By bringing together designers and mathematicians, PR00F fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and exchange of ideas between two subjects that are often kept separate.

Alexander holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from a prestigious university and is highly regarded in his field for his contributions to abstract algebra and number theory. His work focuses primarily on theoretical research and academic publications, with little experience in applied mathematics or visual communication. He is a dedicated mathematician who is passionate about exploring the intricate beauty of mathematical concepts and theories. His research delves into abstract algebra and number theory, seeking to unravel the mysteries of mathematical structures and patterns. He has always felt intimidated by the world of art and design, finding it challenging to translate his mathematical insights into visual form. While he may lack confidence in his artistic abilities, Dr. Chen is determined to explore the intersection of mathematics and design, recognizing the potential for interdisciplinary collaboration to enrich his work and broaden his horizons.

Meet Alexander.

Goals & Motivations
- Advance the frontiers of mathematical knowledge through his research and academic publications.
- Pursue truth and understanding,
- Inspire and educate others about the beauty and significance of mathematics.
